NUCLEAR

Respond to this post with information about nuclear energy.

  1. Even though nuclear power is clean, rather inexpensive and relatively safe there are still rather large concerns about public safety involving the creation of new nuclear power plants. Based on nuclear disasters that have happened not only in the United States, but also in the Ukraine, many fears were created about similar disasters happening in other places in the future. The biggest problem is trying to find places to store radioactive nuclear waste safely so it won’t pose any threat to humans, animals or the environment.

  2. Nuclear energy is in the core of an atom. There’s a lot of energy that holds an atom together. Nuclear energy makes electricity. There are two ways nuclear energy is released from an atom: nuclear fusion and nuclear fission. In nuclear fusion, energy is released when atoms are combined to make a bigger atom. In nuclear fission, atoms split apart and become smaller. Fusion is highly researched by scientists right now. One day it may become highly used technology for electricity generation.

  3. When the nucleus of an atom is changed, energy is given off. The changes are called nuclear reactions. These reactions create energy called nuclear energy or atomic energy.

  4. Nuclear energy can be created two ways. The first way (nuclear fission) energy is made by splitting atoms into smaller atoms. The second way (nuclear fusion) creates energy by combining atoms

  5. Uranium is used in nuclear power plants to create nuclear energy. Uranium is a metal found in rocks, and it is a resource that is not renewable. Nuclear power plants use a certain type of uranium called U-235. The atoms in this type of uranium are can easily be split apart. Uranium is a very common metal, found all over the world. But nuclear energy is not a very reliable source for energy.

  6. Nuclear power is one of the world’s greatest power sources. It doesn’t pollute very much and we have enough of it to last us for many years.

  7. People are using nuclear energy to convert it into electricity. But, for the electricity to be created the nuclear energy needs to be released. The energy is released in two different ways, nuclear fusion, and nuclear fission.

  8. Nuclear energy is basically the energy in the core of an atom. There are only two ways of how nuclear energy converts by nuclear fusion and nuclear fission, and the amount of energy released can create a lot of electricity.

  9. Nuclear power uses uranium, an alkaline metal mined from the earth. The first Full scale nuclear power plant was built in the mid 1950’s also a lot of military equipment like submarines and ships have nuclear power to run them because it takes a lot of energy to get rid of nuclear power because it takes so little to produce so much energy and it doesn’t have the mass amount of pollution that fossil fuels emit. Also it is very small so it is easy to conceal.

  10. Nuclear energy is man-made. There are two different ways nuclear energy is produced. One is large nuclei are split to release energy. The other way is small nuclei are combined to release energy.

  11. Nuclear energy is manmade. Machines called nuclear reactors provide electricity for cities.

  12. Nuclear energy looks like a fantastic alternative energy and we should not have to worry about the safety because the government makes sure all of the plants are inspected very carefully and thoroughly.

  13. Nuclear energy is created when water is pressurized and sent through a machine that also contains water. The mixture of the pressurized water and the regular water. This increases the uranium dioxide in the core. The water then passes through another machine that heats the water to 270c. Then the water that wasn’t boiled is sent through a heater that heats up the water, and turns it into steam. The steam then spins a turbine that produces energy.

  14. Uranium generates nuclear power, which is a metal mined in many parts of the world. Calder hall in Cumbria, England is where the first large scale nuclear station is opened. Nuclear power is 11% of the world’s energy needs. Small amounts of fuel produce huge amounts of energy.

  15. Nuclear energy is nonrenewable. Nuclear energy is used as electricity but has to be released first. It’s released by atoms. Nuclear plants also contain certain kinds of uranium and is used as fuel.

  16. The steam creates when atom split apart. It’s called fission and its convert hear into electricity

  17. Nuclear energy in my own opinion is one of the worst alternative energy resources. After reading up on the event of the “Three Mile Island” incident, it made me not trust it in our man made nuclear reactors. Our own government doesn’t trust it either since no new nuclear reactors have been built in the past twenty-five years. However when nuclear energy is created naturally, it can be one of the most reliable sources of energy ever invented by man.

  18. Nuclear power was only discovered 30 years ago and it’s the second largest source of electricity and almost the best power there is.

  19. Nuclear Some peopl¬e praise the technology as a low-cost, low-emission alternative to fossil fuels, while others stress the negative impact of nuclear waste and accidents such as Three Mile Island and Chernobyl.

  20. Nuclear energy is a energy that runs off of coal and has saved Americans 44 billon dollars.

  21. Nuclear energy is made when an atom is split and sets loose neutrons, which set off chain reactions splitting more and more atoms. This process is known as nuclear fission

  22. Nuclear energy is light and heat that is produced by the splitting of the nuclei of atoms. The process is called fusion; there are all kinds of reactors in the development. There is an enormous amount of reactors that produce less radioactive waiste and last longer than the sun, they are used on most power plants today.

  23. In the earth’s core it is over 60 times hotter than boiling water. The heat is pressure created below the earth’s surface. We don’t have to go to the center of the earth

  24. There are some advantages and disadvantages of nuclear energy. A pro is, on the nuclear power plants oil and coal are burned.

  25. Hi…
Nuclear power will change your life. It produces no green house gasses. This is one of the big benefits; it also does not take a lot of space. Nuclear power will help humans run the country.
