BIOMASS
Respond to this post with information about biomass energy.
The energy created by burned biomass can be used as light and heat, directly, or be used to create electricity by boiling water to produce steam which spins a turbine. One could also use mulching, which uses the organic content to fertilize soil and plants. If one wants to use a more high-tech method one would have to transform the physical organic matter into a more combustible material. It is also possible to convert biomass into oil. By using hydrogenation and combining it with carbon monoxide it’s very possible for biomass to become oil.
Twelve percent of U.S. biomass energy comes from garbage. Garbage or municipal solid waste (MSW) is stuff like leaves, grass clippings, food scraps, cardboard, paper, and leather and other combustible materials.
When the carbohydrates in a biomass are burned, they release the energy inside of them. Because a biomass is made from nature, They don’t pollute the air when they are replenished.
Energy crops can be grown in large quantities and in ways that don’t decrease food production. Farmers grow these crops so they in fact help their other crops, such as fitting them into crop rotations. Native trees and grasses need less synthetic inputs making them have a lower risk of disruption to agro-ecosystems.
One of the processes of getting biomass energy is very simple. Things like corn and wood are gathered and taken into a biomass center. There, the wood and things are burned. The heat from that is used to boil water that creates steam. And finally that steam is used to power generators and turbines that make energy.
People think that Biomass is something people would throw out because they think that is useless (trash, or waste from nature) But, it can be used to make electricity, heat, and compost material or fuels
Fossil fuels and biomass are different because biomass harvests the CO2 and uses it as an energy while fossil fuels put out CO2 and damages the earth while biomass doesn’t
Biomass is a carbon based energy that is burned like grass; scrap wood and other debris found at landfills. Even your trash can be burned! Also bio-mass is very clean and reduces many greenhouse gasses. It also improved air quality, forest health, and is very reliable… Most importantly it is renewable.
Biomass energy is energy that comes from all organic or natural matter on earth such as animal droppings, and any other digestive material. Also from trees, agriculture crops and all other living things and they can transform this into useable renewable energy
Biomass is simply trees, wasted wood, and other natural scraps that are brought to factories. This material is burned and the heat is used to boil water. The steam is then used to generate machines.
Biomass is a natural resource that can be used as fuel. It can be burned or chemically changed using systems that produce heat, electricity, or both. Small amounts of wood make up the most amounts of biomass. Crop residue and farm animal waste are also used.
Biomass is a very good way to produce energy because it uses plants and animals. Although if you burn it can become a big pollution problem. This releases gasses that are very bad for the ozone layer. So there are positives and negatives about it. So overall this is not the best choice if you want to save energy.
The united states could produce more biomass energy if we had better conversion technology and more attention paid to energy crops. Biopower accounted for more than 35 percent of total renewable energy in 2009 for the united states.
Biomass can be converted to energy. Old garbage and wasted can be used to produce methane or biogas wich can be used for energy. Crops, corn and the sugar cane can produce ethanol and biodiesel. Its boiled and steamed and use to move turbines and create energy.
Biomass is made up by carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are formed in growing plant life. Biomass is matter that was once alive and is now used for energy. Biomass can come from matter in trees and other living plant material.
Biomass is one of the most common renewable energy sources around. Biomass energy comes from the everyday materials that people throw in the trash or in nearby landfills. Combining dead trees, tree branches and yard clippings can be combined into one composite pile and burned to create heat, electricity, composite materials or fuels.
‘’Woody biomass harvesting provides significant amounts of renewable energy it will help and generate the country’s forestry community’’ said john deere
Hi… Biomass is thought of as trash to the normal human. Things that can’t be fully recycled can possible hosts for biomass which we can use to create energy.
